Hi! I’m Cortney- Welcome!
My husband Rich and I toil away on about 7.5 acres of sandy soil in USDA zone 4b- Northern Wisconsin. We moved here 2014 after stints in Minnesota, Texas, and South Dakota and have been working and plotting to re-imagine the 3.5 acres of weed-filled sod we inherited into something much more interesting.
We’ve currently got a veg garden, a potager, a number of different flower gardens, two small orchards, and a hillside that we are coaxing back into woodland. The rest of our land is about 4 acres of oak and maple forest. (To get the lay of the land, please check out the “Garden Map” tab on the Home Page. I got out all my fancy pens and markers to make that!)
I suppose I (and therefore, we?) garden with Right Plant, Right Place as our guidepost. That means much of what we grow is confined to whatever likes really, really good drainage and full, blazing sun in the summer and sub-zero temperatures in the winter.
My hope is that this site will be a good resource for both new and experienced gardeners and a place for us to share our garden projects and problems. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoy what you find here!
